Speed up a site using DataLife Engine

There are currently no plugins for connecting CDN (accelerating file loading) to DLE websites

However, we have found a workaround!

In the new versions of DLE (starting with 16.1), it is possible to add external storage for files. We recommend ordering this storage with the CDN service for DLE from cdnnow!

Briefly about the service: you can connect the external FTP server cdnnow! through the DLE admin interface and upload files there.
The files will be inserted into your website via a CDN link.
The file (e.g., an image) will be stored on the cdnnow! server, and a cached copy of it will be available in the browser on the website, delivered from the CDN server closest to you.

Cdnnow! has many servers throughout Russia, and points of presence in the CIS, Europe, US, and Asia. Content will be downloaded from the network server closest to the website visitor, saving download time.

What's more, we have an option to optimize images to webp format! Just mention in your CDN application that you need this option, and we'll activate it for you. Optimization significantly increases the page loading speed for your website visitors and reduces image file sizes by 30-35 percent without any loss of quality. In addition, this technology allows you to resize images, crop them, compress them, and much more.

Connecting DLE to CDN

1. First, you need an account with cdnnow! and a project >with file storage. It is important to note this in your application. A 7-day free trial period is provided so that you can activate CDN and evaluate the benefits of using it.
   Submit a request to connect CDN , specifying your email, website, and CMS (DLE). In the comments, write that you need storage for DLE. The manager will create an account for you in your personal cdnnow! account and set up the project. You will receive an email with instructions and your project address, as well as FTP access to the server (storage).
2. You will receive the CDN project address in the form userXXXXX.nowcdn.co, as well as FTP access (login, password, server address).
3. Log in to your DLE admin panel
4. Go to the “Script Settings / Storage” section. Click the “Add New Storage” button
5. The “Edit Storage” form will open, where you need to fill in:
   • «Storage Name» — enter your name. For example, “My CDN”
   • «Storage Type for Downloadable Files and Images» — select “External FTP Server”
   • «FTP/SFTP server address» — enter «userXXXXX.upload.nowcdn.co» — which you've got from us in email. Enter your actual unique value instead of userXXXX.
   • «FTP/SFTP server port» — do not specify anything, leave blank.
   • «Login for FTP/SFTP server» — enter your userXXXXX
   • «Password for FTP/SFTP server» — enter your passowrd which we sent you.
   • «Path to files in storage» — leave blank. We'll upload files to the root directory.
   • «HTTP URL address for external storage» — enter «https://userXXXXX.nowcdn.co/» -- be careful here and enter your CDN address (without the word “upload” in it).
   • «Access mode to files on storage» — select «Private».
   • Click «Save» button.
6. You can select this new storage as “default”, and then files and images added to the news will be saved in the CDN storage.
7. From this point on, images and additional news files will be downloaded from the CDN — always from the closest server, which means at maximum speed

As we mentioned, there is a free 7-day trial period. If you like the service and would like to continue using it, you will need to switch to a paid plan.

If, after testing, you are not satisfied with the service for any reason, don't forget to disable this storage in the DLE admin panel and re-upload the files locally. Old links via CDN will no longer be available when you disable your account.
