VOD (Video on Demand) — is content available on request. It means users can watch it at any time, as opposed to LIVE streaming, which is broadcast in real-time.

One of the most common scenarios is a client uploading a video in MP4, MOV, or another container format and receiving adaptive streaming playlists (HLS, and DASH if required) as output.

Streaming formats differ from container formats because they split the video into many small chunks that are loaded progressively during playback. This enables faster playback start and adaptive quality adjustment based on the user’s connection speed.

A container format like MP4 can be loaded by the browser in parts (if supported by the server), but playback may not start immediately — especially if the metadata is located at the end of the file. Additionally, MP4 does not support adaptive bitrate streaming.

Streaming playlists typically contain links to multiple quality versions, and the video player automatically selects the suitable one based on the network conditions.

HLS is usually sufficient, as it is supported by the vast majority of modern browsers and devices. DASH encoding is performed upon client request.

We provide both the streaming playlist and our own ready-to-use player.

You can use our player for free, or use any other JavaScript-based player by embedding your playlist URL into it.

Absolutely! In your account, under project settings, you will find the API documentation for uploading, encoding, and retrieving video files.
We charge for: CDN outbound traffic (what your viewers watched), Storage space for recordings (originals + transcoded versions). For videos in 4K and above, encoding is billed per minute. If the source video is 1080p or lower, it’s considered Full HD and encoded free of charge.
